At some point in our lives we may or may not have sabotaged efforts to get ahead with either our personal wellbeing, love or employment situations without even knowing it. I know I was blocking myself from getting ahead in my marketing efforts until I realized why and started to change the way I think. I now try not to be a saboteur and think positive thoughts.
This undermining of self usually happens on an unconscious level and we need to learn to become more conscious of what we are doing and thinking in order to stop blocking ourselves. How can you find out if you are sabotaging yourself ?
Below are 15 questions that can help you decide if you are a self saboteur. Simply mark on a piece of paper all statements that may apply and then check the results. Nothing is written in stone and this is for entertainment purposes, but maybe it will give you some idea of what may be happening and why things aren’t developing the way you thought they should and maybe help you become more conscious to the saboteur in you.
1.I cannot keep my focus on important issues in my life.
2.I do not take criticism well even from my best friends.
3.I spend a lot of time around people that do not support my ideas and thoughts.
4.I seem to just spin my wheels and waste time.
5.I am a procrastinator and never live up to my potential.
6.I act on impulse when I really want something.
7.I spend my time wishing I was someone else.
8.I feel worthless if I don’t do something perfectly.
9.I don’t ask a lot of questions or offer my opinions because I don’t want to look stupid.
10.I usually always expect the worse.
11.I find myself in trouble quite often because I think I know something that I really don’t.
12.I spend most of my time helping other people with their problems and aspirations.
13.I am often moody and irritable.
14.I just don’t feel up to it today is an often used phrase.
15.I can’t seem to control my own life.

- 3-5 Try a little self improvement because like everyone else you are doing a few things that are holding you back. I fail into this category myself and I have been improving.
- 6-11 You definitely have a lot of barriers you need to knock down. You are undermining your self in a huge way.
- 12-15 Danger! If you made it to this one then be very careful because every time you turn around you are sabotaging yourself. If you checked all of the above then you will have to dig very deeply to uncover the reasons behind your self sabotage.
